Training and experience are applied to the many aspects of textile and preventive conservation. Clients may require care and advice for a whole collection or only a single item.
Services can be broadly described by the following:
- survey work - condition checking, provision of advisory reports and estimates
- cleaning - dry and wet cleaning
- repair - stitch and adhesive treatments
- display and storage work - preparing mounts, devising and implementing safe systems for hanging and storage
- pest management - survey work and setting up and implementing good housekeeping, monitoring and eradication
- training and presentations - delivery of talks and demonstrations
- preventive - assessing environmental conditions and providing recommendations
